Cheryl & Chris's Wedding Blog

Hi gang - got my first ebay purchase in yesterday - cake knife & server. Looks fine to me, although my suspicion is that in addition to the bike shop selling a tiara, after the wedding they'll be putting this on ebay as well. Pretty, but what is one to do with it afterwards? I'm not much of a baker after all.

Archives are working again. I'll keep a closer eye on things. Right now all I do is (lightly) edit, much to Cheryl's chagrin. I don't plan on posting here. Cheryl's a good writer, and I don't think I could compete. Additionaly, my sense of humour tends towards sarcasm, mockery and irony, which doesn't seem in keeping with the occasion. Lastly, while important to me, it's also an event as common as dirt, and I don't expect to shed any new light on the oldest of human institutions.

I'm fresh out of news for the blog today. I never thought that would happen! :)
I was cracking up, Chris and I were talking to some friends about the wedding, and we were telling them about putting a blog together. It sounded crazy to them until we explained the communications logistics of trying to keep everyone in the loop.
My Mom & Dad: St Louis
Chris' Mom: Bowling Green KY
Bill: Cromwell CT
Christine: Atascadero, CA
Tammie: Houston
Eli: Santa Cruz, CA
Fr Tom: Bowling Green KY
And that doesn't even touch on our friends. It's nuts!
I was also talking about the ceremony to one of my co-workers who's getting married in August. I told him that I was planning on using the Theme from Jaws as the music for my grand entrance into the Church. Fortunately Chris has a sense of humor. He told me that his fiancee didn't take as well to his suggestion that one of the readings should be "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death..."

Ok - I've got a photographer lined up, and I'm supposed to meet with him on May 14 when I'm in St Louis. Yeah! Also got the skinny on the Catholic pre-marriage interview/classes, and we're in good shape. They offer classes in July, September and November. I'm thinking of shooting for September since it's between racing seasons. A few more things to check off of the to-do list! Hooray!
Hmmm, ok, I'm trying not to get too freaky on this eBay thing. I did also buy a cake cutter & knife. It was cheap. I'm all about cheap. Or as my friend Angie says, everything wedding-related seems to start at $1000. So the eBay thing rocks because nothing has exceeded $20 so far. It soothes the soul. For a brief moment I looked at gloves to go with the dress. I think it would look awesome with the dress I chose. But I decided it would be too much of a pain for putting a ring on my finger. Like I won't be nervous enough without trying to pull opera gloves off. I'd hate for the wedding to turn into a three stooges skit. So enough money has been sent to eBay, time to get back on track!

I've made my first official eBay purchase, a (gulp) tiara. Just saying tiara makes the tomboy side of me cringe in horror. Anyway, there wasn't much of a risk on it, it was only $15. If it stinks, the bike shop around the corner will sell anything on eBay. I'll bet the tiara will be a first for them though. :)
Three men were sitting together bragging about how they had set their new wives straight on their housework duties. The first man married a woman from Pennsylvania and bragged that he had told her she was going to do all the dishes and all the house cleaning that needed done at their house. He said that it took a couple days but on the third day he came home to a clean house and the dishes were all washed and put away.
The second man married a woman from New York. He bragged that he had given his wife orders that she was to do all the cleaning, dishes, and the cooking. He said that on the first day he didn't see any results, but the next day it was better. By the third day, his house was clean, the dishes were done, and he had a huge dinner on the table.
The third man married a Texas girl. He boasted that he had informed her his house was to be cleaned, dishes washed, the cooking done and laundry washed. And this was all her responsibility. He said the first day he didn't see anything and the second day he didn't see anything but by the third day some of the swelling had gone down so he could see a little out of his left eye!
Watch out, Chris!
I spent yesterday AM looking at invitations and trying to figure out what I liked, what was in budget, etc. Good news: Everything I liked is in the budget. My only catch at the moment is the invitation I'm most interested in seeing is still enroute to my house, I didn't order it at the same time I ordered the other samples, so now I have to wait for it. (Picture antsy shifting from foot to foot here).
Have a great week!
