Cheryl & Chris's Wedding Blog

Ok, ok, ok, ok....
This has nothing to do with us or weddings, but I ran across this in a blog somewhere, and the looked up the source story. Regardless of your political views...does anyone else find this paragraph absolutely hysterical?
The setting: The DNC.
The people involved: Protesters outside the FleetCenter
A brief scuffle broke out on the Common between some of the peace demonstrators and a man carrying a graphic anti-abortion sign. Witnesses said the man was pushed to the ground and his shirt was torn, but he was unhurt.
The Peace Protestors were beating people up?
So today's super cool moment is that people are starting to sign our guest book on the knot. Ok, ok, I know that in some ways, for those more computer savvy than I, it's no big deal. But to me, it's really neat to start seeing the names of those near and dear to us showing up with expressions of good will.
Today Chris is at the Tour de Toona...woohooo! :) This is the biggest race in this area. The pro teams start on Monday and race every day until Sunday. For Chris, who's a category 3 racer, he starts today and races until Sunday. If you click on the Tour de Toona link, they post results every day. As I type, Chris' race is about 1/2 way over. Tomorrow I'm going out to do feeds (hand up water bottles and musette bags to the riders so they don't dehydrate) for the road race. Altoona is about 2 hours away, so I'm just driving out and coming back.
We're not expecting any big wins, as long he stays safe and has fun, I'm happy!

Ok, it's very belated, but we're working on a "save the date, check out our website" email. Now to consolidate all of the appropriate email addresses. I got a bit of a fire lit under me when I went out to the website and the counter on it said "You have 135 days to the wedding. ARGH! That's it?!
If anyone needs me, I'll be breathing into a paperbag while simultaneously trying to start collecting snail mail addresses for the invitations.

The end of the Tour...wow, it was such a weird thing to not watch the end of the TdF, yet in some ways I didn't miss it at all. By the time we left for Richmond on Friday, Lance had it totally sewn up. We heard he won another stage on Saturday, so essentially, short of terrorism, he was going to win the 6th Tour. He's the first man in History to do so. And of course, it's started the next round of "Who's the greatest cyclist? It's not Lance..." conversations. Ah, success only lasts until the day after. Then the urge to pull down the podium seems to pick up speed.
So if anyone needs me, you can find me hiding under my desk and weeping softly that the Tour is over for another year.
We're baaaaaaaaaaacckkk! The weekend went really well. JH & Susan were working like crazy to make the races went well, and their efforts paid off. Despite some not so cooperative weather (spritzed on Saturday, poured on Sunday), everything seemed to go off really well. Chris did a fabulous job as an announcer. Not that I'm partial or anything, but watch out Phil Liggett & Paul Sherwin! Fred behaved fairly well - not so good on Saturday with other dogs, but very well on Sunday. I'm trying to expunge the mental image of Fred pulling Chris over at the announcers tent while he attempted to go after another dog. That'll teach me to take our mutt out without the prong collar on, not just the leash snapped to his canvas collar. But it was a good weekend, all in all.
My friend Kathy suggested that if we could have gotten Homer, Baker, and Fred to play some poker, we would have a masterpiece. The only thing that conjured for Chris and me was the mental image of the three dogs attempting to bluff.
Fred: "This hand is horrible!" *wag wag wag*
Baker: "Mine too! Who dealt this?" *leaping into the air with joy*
Homer: "I should have dealt off the bottom, this stinks." *heavy panting, tongue lolling*
And now the latest wedding news. We've gotten our first item off of our gift registry - Huge woohoo moment! So as weird as it was to sign up for things, I gotta say this being on the receiving end of gifts totally rocks. Now to get Thank You cards! I need to get moving on those!
