Cheryl & Chris's Wedding Blog

It's been long enough now that I can finally mention this on the blog.
There are two wedding dress shops within 2 blocks of my house. One between my house and the bike shop, and one near the store where we let Fred get Pigs Ears. (He now tries to drag us there on our walks!) Anyway, the reason this is important is because shortly after I ordered my dress (from a different store all together), the exact same dress appeared in the window of one of those shops. It was torture. Anytime the two of us went passed, I was dying to ask "What do you think!". But I didn't because two of the response possibilities were no good. The first was that he would realize that was THE dress. The second was that he would reply "IIIICCKKK!" Not being able to tell him about the dress is tough enough as it is. I'm pretty excited about it! But then to have it sitting there......ARGH! Torture!

October is going to be high entertainment. We have a friend's wedding to attend on the 16th of October. On the 24th, my aunts are going to have a shower for me, so I'll be vegging in St Louie. And on the 30th, Chris's Mom is having a brunch to introduce us as a couple to friends and those who have known Chris all of his life. I'm really looking forward to it! I'm a little less looking forward to the pre-wedding classes which start next Thursday. Not dread, just more like "Do I HAVE to? There is so much else going on!" No worries though, just 4 classes and it's done.

So today's question du jour is... what would compel someone at a grocery store to bag my 6 pack of sprite? It's alone in the bag, so it's not ease of carrying. As a matter of fact she seemed surprised when I took the other 6-pack away from her. Weird.

Anyway, faithful reader, here's your entertainment mission. Next time you go to the store and get just one or two small things, just tell the person checking you out (or bagging) "Oh I don't need a bag" and then wait for the show. I used to do this all of the time (until we got Fred and needed to "re-use" those bags), and the consternation it caused was hysterical to behold. I started doing it out of a sense of environmental concern, but kept doing it because watching the reactions was a side show in itself. Probably 3/4 of the people I encountered just didn't know what to do. Some would ask if I'd prefer paper. This is almost as good as getting on an elevator and facing the wrong way. :)

And now I'm off to make some dinner. Have a good evening!

Sanity? What sanity? I just realized how full my schedule is getting for the end of the year. For starters, I'm taking some certification classes for APICS (supply chain stuff, shipping, logistics, suppliers, etc) which I'm supposed to spend 5-6 hours a week preparing for. This lasts 9 months to a year, and will hopefully help me if I end up supporting the supply chain group again at any point. Then starting 9/9 we have our 4 pre-wedding classes every Thursday night. So the schedule works out that my certification classes are from 7-8AM on Thursday mornings, and the pre-wedding classes are 7-9:30PM Thursday nights. ick. Then I wanted to sign up for swimming at the local high school (roughly 1/2 mile from my house, I walk when the weather is good) to start easing myself back into the tri mind set. I want to do some tris next year! Anyway, the swim classes are on Tues nights starting the last week of September. Eeks.

But fortunately, this weekend was nice and quiet. Unfortunately it was so quiet we didn't make it to the Men's Wearhouse for tuxes. It was nice to veg out on the sofa Sunday watching "The Shining" (only minor nightmares, thank you!), and then go out to dinner with some friends. We'll shoot for tuxes tomorrow evening.

The other cool thing this weekend was I did a leg of the doggy railroad. Basically it's a group that transports dogs from kill shelters in one part of the country, to homes, no-kill shelters, or rescues in another part. This weekend I drove Quincy & Keiffer from Bedford PA to Pittsburgh as part of their trek from VA to Chicago. They were such sweet pups that Fred came close to getting some brothers. Then I decided we weren't quite ready for a pack of three in my backyardless duplex. Oh well, Fred will have to continue to look forward to Frick Park trips. Yesterday he met Matteo, and they ran for 1/2 hour straight. Fred slept for the rest of the day, and then this AM still looked groggy. That makes everyone happy!

Back to work...
