First things first...Dad, the bar has been set, check this wedding out. Then again, forget OUR throwing the wedding, when are our friends throwing their $60 million dollar bashes? Then again, as one of the morning DJs pointed out, what kind of gift do you take to a wedding like that? A salad shooter just doesn't seem to cut it under those circumstances.

A conversation I had last night with someone made me realize the unprecedented power I have as a bride...seating arrangements. Mwah-ha-ha-ha-ha-haaaaaaa. Susy "Borrowed my dress 2 years ago and haven't returned it" meet your table. Bob has a chronic gas problem, but don't worry, he'll tell you all about his geode collection! Dave "Dumped my friend because he couldn't make a commitment", meet my friend Mathilda and her 8 kids. Squeamish Taylor "Forgot to pick me up from the airport" meet my friends the ER doctors and nurses. Ya know, the possibilities are endless. Hey! Maybe happy people ARE nastier!

Since things are pretty quiet on the wedding front at the moment, I'm going to take shameless advantage of my blogging power for other reasons. I want to say thank you to my friend Sean, the St John Vianney Young Adults (Houston, TX!) and to my parents. My brother called last summer to say that there were a group of families in his area who home-schooled their kids, and were looking for help in getting books. One thing led to another, and we set up a wish list on Amazon. I figured this way, people could order the books themselves and know that I wasn't taking off on vacation to Cancun. Anyway, enter the YAs, and my parents. With help from them, including a recent $100 donation from the YAs, we're up to 141 books that have been purchased for the families. Or since I'm a math geek, for the 21 kids involved, we're talking about roughly 7 books per child. Cool, no? At this point we've bought History, Math, Science, Religion, and Latin books, with Spanish books next in my sights.

So thank you!

Woohoo! The invite order has been placed. The invitations say:
Come to our wedding
Venga a nuestra boda
Venir à notre noce
Kommen Sie zu unserer Hochzeit
È venito al nostro matrimonio
Kom naar onse huwelijken
Venha a nosso casamento
Прибудьте в нашу свадьбу
Komm til vårt bryllup
Oh...and bring gifts.

(I'm just kidding, I promise!) Anyway, so another check off of the ol' matrimonial check list!

We have a second groomsman, Jake Gilmore. I met him my first semester in college and we've been good friends since, although we lost touch when I moved here. Anways, I'm completely stoked to have him. It'll only add to the pre-wedding ride and Jake obviously knows how to party too. I don't know if we'll actually make it to the wedding though; between Eli and Jake we'll be stopping to help every person between the hotel and the church. Between the two of them I don't know anyone else more helpful, kind or generous. BTW, ladies; single, loaded, athletic and loves his Mom.

In administrative news, I actually quit editing the Blog since it seemed to bug Cheryl so. Apparently I've been pulled out of retirement.

Oh NO!

The New York Times posted an article today about how happy people are nastier. According to this particular article, both angry people and happy people are more apt to make bigoted judgements, especially negative ones. Well the wedding certainly doesn't make me angry or sad, so that leaves me as happy, and therefore nasty. By the end of the article, happiness was a bad thing. So if I could just get really bummed out, I'll be a better person.

Then again, maybe it's a good thing that my background is engineering, we're not required to believe this mess. I'm off to go make some bigoted, stereotypical judgements about my co-workers. Zippity-do-daaah...
