Cheryl & Chris's Wedding Blog

Ok, so we've officially hit bridal news limbo. No, this is not a Carribean dance for honeymooners, more of a slow news week. Next weekend is when the excitement really hits - I'm going to StL on Thursday evening. Friday AM we cake test (what a SCAM! Free bakery products? Rock on!), and talk to the photographer. If any of you married folks out there have suggestions of pictures that we absolutely must take, please let me know! Right now I know of at least one picture on Chris' and my "Must have" list. Then Friday afternoon it's off to the reception hall to pick a menu, put down a downpayment, and order a cake. Sometime over the course of the weekend I want to go to St Cecilia's to get some pictures to show Chris. We're tentatively planning on coming back to St Louis for 4th of July, and hopefully I'll get to show him the scene of the crime, in person.

I changed the wedding time to 11. This makes, approximately, the 51st time change for the wedding. But 10:30 was making me itchy, I was worried that it wouldn't give much time to get ready. I was worried that 11:30 would start cutting into reception time, and voila, we have 11AM. Maybe Chris can sneak in a quick ride before the wedding.

Anyway, that's all from here. At some point the goal is now to bike ride in addition to running so that I can start rounding out my fitness. Especially given how short my runs actually are. So maybe this weekend it will stop being rainy and/or cold, and give me a chance to go for a spin.

Have a great weekend!

Sorry about the lack of posting, it's been a quiet couple of days. I did send off the deposit for the church and have been updating the website at theknot.com where I'll send people to do things like e-RSVP and get directions to the church. I guess sometime REALLY soon, Chris and I are supposed to register for gifts. Should be interesting, and hopefully fun.

I got the tiara last night. Chris is entranced. He's recommended that I glue it to my cycling helmet. Alas, I'm afraid that will mess up my ability to wear it with a veil at the wedding.

I just got back from getting measured for my dress and putting down a down payment.

Sigh.

Why do we do this to ourselves? I went in, put the sample dress on, and it fit perfectly. I realized that I had emailed out pictures of the wrong dress. Whoops. Both are very similar. I felt great in my dress, what a beautiful outfit.

But then (cue music from the movie Halloween) came the dreaded measuring.

Standing there in my skivvies, it occurred to me that maybe I should not have given up exercise so entirely for the last 6 months. They take 4 measurements, the last one being from the notch in the throat to the floor. All the better to show off the fact that I haven't had a pedicure since ... um...

Anyway, the woman who was working with me told me that she thought the dress I had on fit very well, and recommended that I order that one. However my measurements were just a touch outside of the standard range. Ok, no problem I was good with that. First she told me the chest measurement. I felt pretty smug when she told me what size it corresponded to.

"Ha!" I thought to my self with an internal sneer "Not bad for a couch potato"

Then she told me the waist measurement and the size it corresponded to. One size larger than the chest. The internal sneer turned into an internal Marge Simpson "Hmmmmmmmm"

Then she told me the hip size, which is one size larger than the waist size, and a size that I have never put on my body. Apparently I'm a triangle wearing the wrong size clothes.

Then I paid the nice lady, and slunk out before anyone could see me by light of day.

I went home and took Freddie for a run. Think I'll have a few crackers for dinner and see if the home shopping network is selling diet pills.

(I'm kidding about the last 2 sentences, I promise)

Brief detour in the blog....It's the third of May and Pittsburgh is expecting frost and 33 degrees F tonight. On the plus side, maybe the frost will take down the pollen count which crippled Chris and I this past few days.

Ok, back to our regularly scheduled topic. Friday I got in the invitation sample that I had been waiting on. Eh. So I cut it down to a few choices and Chris picked one that I also particularly liked. Then thinking about it this weekend, I got cold feet and hit him with another possible selection when we got back from Richmond on Sunday night. At that point I think he was all out of interest in invitations and told me either option is ok. Anyway, the invitations in question have roses, so my calla lily concerns are set aside. I can't believe I'm worrying about this stuff. Calla lilies vs Roses? Holy mackerel.

Have fun today!
