So today's wedding dilemma - how to incorporate the dad-daughter dance into the reception, without dancing with Chris. My aunt had a pretty good suggestion in having all dads & daughters come out and dance and then just opening the floor up to everyone. I'm open to any other suggestions you may have - add to the comments below!

And for those of you who do want to dance, I found a really good site on how to dance properly. Click Here

The race that Chris announced in May - the Captech Classic is going to be on TV. I'm not sure if Chris will be shown or not, but we'll be glued to it! ("Hey, look, it's Chris's arm!!!!") This is the race at which he met Dave Towle, who hooked him with announcing on Lemon Hill last weekend.

Yeah! Let the happy dancing begin! I FINALLY got in touch with my parish priest last night, and we've set up a time to meet with him next Thursday. We started our extended phone tag at the end of April. This is the only facet of the wedding that has had me truly stressed, because it is the one set of requirements that the Catholic Church has to get married. In other words, even if I showed up in bike socks and spandex, I could get married, but I can't without the Catholic Church's okee dokee. For those of you non-Catholic types, the rule is you need to let the parish priest know 6 months in advance. Guess what today is? The 6 month mark. I didn't figure the wedding would turn into a pumpkin at midnight tonight, but I stressed anyway as to how tightly that deadline would be held. Now to find out how much of a pain in the neck it's going to be coordinating this facet of getting married out of town.

Now having said that...eeeks! Today is the 6 month mark! Time to run out to "The Knot" and find out what needs to be done next!!!

Last night was the wedding registry stuff at Kaufmann's. Anyway, they handed me the little shoot-em gun and away I went to find things that I liked. So pending Chris' final approval, the formal selections are:
China:
Noritake Crestwood Cobalt Platinum
Crystal:
Mikasa Olympus
"Silver" (ok Stainless Steel) Ware
Oneida Satin Aquarius
Flatware
Oneida Satin Tribeca

When I got there, and they handed me the little wand thingy, my brain locked up completely. I pretty much have the basics that I need, so I was walking past daily dinner plates (nope, got those last year), and glasses, flatware, kitchen appliances...and nothing was ringing a bell. Decision anxiety! Decision anxiety! but then...I saw the glow, the angels started singing, and I stumbled upon the calphalon pots and pans. For those of you who aren't turned on by pans, Calphalon is really, really nice quality stuff. And unfortunately, priced accordingly. But I figured that even if no one bought one, I'm ok, I have plenty of pots and pans at home. And if someone did buy us one, well, so much the better. After the calphalon ice breaking, I did finally get my act together and decide on some other stuff (oh c'mon, we NEED the tortilla warmer!). The only disappointment was that I wasn't too pumped up about the linens & bathroom things, so I may end up at Penney's to register for those items. In both cases, our registries can be printed off online, so hopefully that cuts down on people running from pillar to post trying to decide on something.

And on a totally different note, I stumbled across the Royale Orleans menu, which I forgot I had. So basically the buffet that we're looking at includes:
Top Round of Beef with Sauce La Fitte
Cajun Style Ham
Tortellini in Alfredo Sauce
"Touch of New Orleans" Red beans and rice
Potatoes Royale
Cheese Cube & Fresh Fruit Appetizer Platter
Donna's Roayle Chef Salad
10-item Relish Tray
Fresh Bakery French Bread with Butter

We're a little worried about whether we should add Mostaccioli in Meat Sauce or not. Mom & Dad are checking the clause to make sure that a wedding held in St Louis is legal without it. That's still in question.

Take care!

Chris and I went to a baby shower/bike race last night for our friends Emma & Henry. These are the friends otherwise known as "The friends who introduced us". Anyway, I talked to another friend, Robin, there, and commissioned her to make a cake topper. Robin's an artist, and she's pretty sure she can make a bicycle built for two before December 11. So yeah! I finally have a way to put a bike into our wedding!

Oh and the bike race was won by a 13 year old girl in the final sprint. We're going to be saying "We knew Sinead when..." in a few years, if she doesn't totally burn out.

Other bike related wedding stuff...at the bike races this weekend, I stocked up on the bike socks. It's a big deal, every year there are people in Philly selling the the seconds and stock overruns at a price of 3 for $10. Anyway, I found a pair that are apparently left over from a pro racer's wedding. Complete with bride & groom! Perfect, maybe I can wear them under my wedding dress. I will forgo the bike shoes under the dress though, too loud.

And a much belated mention in the blog: At the beginning of the year at the local training crits, everyone picks up their numbers for the season. I thought it was really sweet that Chris picked 11 for our wedding day.

Everyone have a great day!

Holy mackerel - I can't believe I forgot some of our favorite moments from the weekend. Saturday night we had a chance to hang out with our friends Brad and Pam, and their daughter Sydney. She has to be the cutest thing on two legs. Anyway, Sydney can complete sentences from her favorite book "Click Clack Moo". We were absolutely hysterical to hear things like
"The duck was a neutral..."
"PARRRrtttyy!"

"The duck took..."
"...The ultima-um to the cows"

And of course:
"Click Clack..."
"MOO!"

Now we're really looking forward to having children - we can teach them much cooler tricks than we can teach Fred.

Dang it, had 3/4 of the lengthy weekend recap written when my internet crashed for some reason as yet unknown to me.

So the short version is - Philly. Had fun, Chris announced, Fr Tom had his first mass, we all got wet.

Longer version - Friday was pretty, and Chris rode the Manayunk Hill Climb TT. .6 miles up the famed (in cycling circles) Manayunk Wall. Think of the steepest hill you've ever driven up. This is steeper than that. I waited to cheer for him about halfway up, where the wall just really starts to kick up. I watched one rider making his way up the hill, look up, see the increase in steepness, and just turn down the nearest side street and go home.

Saturday was...not so pretty. Got up early and went with Chris to the Philly Art Museum for the Lance Armstrong TT. As we got there, it really started coming down, and stepping out of the car, my interest in running along Kelly drive waned quite a bit. But we got Chris set up in the feed zone that was set up for the next day for USPro. Basically it's a tent set up as stalls so the pro riders can get water from their team managers. Or in our case, the stalls were used by the TT riders to stay relatively dry while riding their trainers to warm up. Worked well! Fortunately the rain passed, somewhat. After talking to John V, who coaches Chris, and did my training plan last year, I felt guilty enough to do that run. Kelly Dr is a beautiful stretch of road along the Schuykill river. It's where the boathouses are for the rowers, and it's a well maintained green area.

Friday night, Chris & I made a bargain. If it rained on Saturday, I was taking the car to Fr Tom's first mass. If it didn't rain, Chris was going to race at Bluebell. The mass was beautiful. It was held at the Church where they have St John Neumann's shrine. The church was amazing. And I got to see my brother for like, 3 minutes. Whoooohooooo!

And Sunday was the big day. Chris had been invited to help David Towle announce at Lemon Hill at USPro. Big coupe! It was a lot of fun, he did a great job, we got a chance to see a lot of people we know from cross races and road races, and overall, it was a really good time! Dave was really nice, and Chris helped with all but the last 3 laps when another big name announcer took over after his stint on the Manayunk Wall was completed. I gotta admit that after 6 hours, our drive home was really quiet though. :)

And now...back to work!
