Yesterday was stage 3 of the TdF. This is the first time since the mid-1980s that the Tour has included some cobblestone sections of road. We only watched a few minutes of Postal pounding down the cobbled road, and just enough to see one of the riders tipped to be Lance's big rival, Iban Mayo, watch any potential Tour victory slip away. He crashed shortly before the pavé, and lost 4 minutes. In the world of the Tour, that's a long time to lose to riders like Armstrong, Jan Ullrich, and Tyler Hamilton. It would take a disaster now for Mayo to get on the podium. All in all it didn't look like an easy day, but at least it was interesting. Usually the first week is really boring - watch the cyclists ride for a really long time, the stage ends with a bunch sprint.

I'm sure I can get something wedding related out of this TdF mania...how about wedding vows? "In Grand Tours and in Classics, on cobbles and smooth roads, over mountains and on flats, until flat tires do you part..."
