An email exchange with a friend. She's married, has 3 kids.
>Maybe you weren't aware of it, but it's not at all clear to me that
>the time before the wedding is about supporting the groom.
Actually, the groom is just an accessory. You are necessary for the
goings-on, but really not all that relevant otherwise. The sooner
you accept and deal with this, the better. When are you getting
married? You might want to consider just ducking and hiding for,
say, the month before the wedding. And just agree with everything
she says. As my husband's late grandfather said to him as we left
our wedding: "make sure you always have the last word: yes dear."
