My brother Br Bill and his fellow seminarian Br George spent the night at my place last night. That was fun! My brother and I have always been close, (well except for the teenage years, but I don't claim responsibility for those any more. Not my finest hours...), but with the change in his life from lay person to seminarian, we don't get to talk as much any more. So it's always good to see him. I also found out that one of the few things that he is allowed to do in the wedding ceremony is read, so I asked him to do that. I'm happy to have him have a visible role in the wedding! I also asked Br George to sing the responsorial psalm as he has a really good voice. I did wait until after we buttered up Br George with Chris's espresso and some ice cream. Anyway, they are now enroute to CT where the seminary is. With any luck, Chris and will be visiting the weekend of Nov 13, since there's a race nearby on that Saturday.
Another plan in the works, but not definitive, is a mass of thanksgiving on Sunday AM. Fr Tom has offered to say a Mass on Sunday. Ralph, who's a good friend of the family, may be able to arrange for the mass to be said at a side altar of the St Louis Cathedral. This is an amazing place, it's the largest mosaic collection in the world, and my mouth hangs open every time I go in. The nice thing about the Mass on Sunday is that allows non-Catholics or those who aren't interested to not have to sit through the Mass, while the Catholics and those who want to see the Cathedral can come on Sunday. So everyone say your prayers and cross your fingers that we can arrange for the Cathedral!
