Cheryl & Chris's Wedding Blog

So far, so good. 3 out of our 4 wedding classes have been completed. One to go! I sort of have mixed feelings about these classes. I don't feel that they're particularly well done in some ways, but then again, given the time frame we're talking about, they're probably doing the best that they can. The first week was about Catholic view of marriage and sacramentality of marriage. The second week was about communication. Last night was about morality. I actually had high hopes for morality. As a cradle catholic, I know that "morality" is Catholic-speak for sex. But alas, nothing exciting there. Essentially the topics were "sex is good, contraceptives are bad, natural family planning is good, and infidelity is bad" So no real newsflashes there. On the positive side, the number of children in the NFP family this time was only 4 (as opposed to the 9 children people who were encouraging it two weeks ago) and then the man who emcees the courses only has two and they used NFP. MUCH better marketing this time. 2.5 hours gets to be a long stretch though, and Chris and I spend lots of time writing notes back and forth to each other. I will say that even though I haven't been wildly impressed about the level of teaching (Becky - they need your teaching skills!!!!), it has spawned some good discussions between Chris and I. So hence the up side of my mixed feelings. Overall, I still think this was worthwhile, I just wish they would make a few tweaks.
