We’re Heeeeeere….

This weekend I spent trying to reclaim my house after about 3 – 4 months of complete and utter neglect. Basically I cleaned, watched Chariots of Fire, cleaned, watched South Park, cleaned, got a makeover at MAC cosmetics, cleaned, walked Freddie, and cleaned. The house has moved from “condemned” to just “dirty”. Sigh. Poor Br George and Br Bill are overnighting there tonight. Well we’ll have a lot more time after the wedding (cross season is over now, too, and we don’t have cable) in which to try to recover from a few months of the world turned upside down. I can’t begin to describe how wonderful it will be to finally have gifts put away instead of taking over my bedroom and dining room. Just think, I’ll have time, on occasion, to make a real meal instead of living on Mmm Mmm Pizza.

Monday I had the day off, so I ran a slew of errands, then came back to the house and met Chris to head to St Louis for the long freakin’ drive. 9 quality hours, and the last hour in addition to Chris being exhausted, it POURED on us. We got in at Midnight, and settled down for the night at my parents. Well a few of us settled down. Fred was too busy running out of the room and sniffing some new scent. I got up a little early, we caught up with Lara & Eli and headed to the Recorder of Deeds to apply for the marriage license. I was a bit stressed, this was the last major point that could be messed up and cause the wedding to be delayed. But it went really, really well. Apparently the St Louis County recorder of deeds is the only government office known to man where the employees get in trouble if there’s a line. You’ve got to love that mentality. I also told Chris that the sign saying “No Refunds” applied to him. So we’re one step closer now. We pick up the license on Friday (3 day waiting period – this is Missouri, people, not Las Vegas). I have two more thank you gifts to get and I think that’s all done. I think. Who knows. Anyway, the major issues have been addressed, now I sort of view the remainder of the tasks as “damage control” for not insulting anyone in the course of the wedding, and properly thanking the people who have helped us out so much.

Tonight Sean, Tammie, and Christine hit town, so we’re planning on a really tasty Italian place for dinner. I’m also picking up my dress from my Aunt who is kind enough to press it after the tumultuous trip. It's the start of the busy next few days - manicures for the girls on Fri, pick up the license, dinner with Chris's family, breakfast with "the girls" to go over strategy....busy, busy, busy.

I can't wait!
